Oh Birds, Let My Thoughts Follow You

“Hare in April”, by Catherine Hyde (the painting is from her book: The Hare and the Moon – A Calendar of Paintings)

It is morning
and I´m sitting in my chair.
The night has left
an imprint in my mind
of the moon´s mirror.

The sun is pouring
in through the window.
A radio is playing
in the distance.
A smell of coffee
and old paintings.

A breeze is bringing
the gift of a flower.

My thoughts are coming
from ancient times
-  some are visitors…
they are my poetic helpers
the helpers of my heart:
The Woman Made of Flowers,
The Lord of Lore,
The Hare and the Blackbird.

I can do what I want.
I´m an outskirter,
a Wildman.
Meditation is transforming
my thoughts
into a shapeshifter.

Oh birds,
let my thoughts follow you
back to your nests
in the deepest groves
of the mystic forest.
